NFPA 1855

Standard on Protective Ensembles for Technical Rescue Incidents

NFPA 1855 is a user document which complements NFPA 1951, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Technical Rescue Incidents. The document was issued by Standards Council in November of 2012, and was approved as an American National Standard with an effective date of December 17, 2012. As with NFPA 1851, this standard contains chapters on administration, definitions, program, selection, inspection, cleaning and decontamination, repair, storage, retirement, verification, and test procedures. While there are slight differences between the two user documents, the most notable difference is that the mandatory retirement in NFPA 1855 ranges from 5 years to 15 years, depending upon the element type.
